Monday January 16th, 2017, 10 students of Horticulture Crop Production Study Program - Agriculture Production Departmnet have came back to State Polytechnic Of Jember after finishing their student exchange program during one semester in Jiangsu Agri-animal Husbandry Vocational College-China (Jiangsu China).
vice director of the academic affairs Ir. Abi Bakri, M.Si, accompanied by vice director of the student affairs Muh. Munih Dian Widianta, S.Kom, MT, Head of colaboration affairs Ir. Nantil Bambang ES, M.Si, and lectures of Horticulture Crop Production Study Program welcomed those students.
According to Head of colaboration affairs Ir. Nantil Bambang ES, M.Si, this student exchange program is the first batch for Horticulture Crop Production Study Program. “ State Polytechnic of Jember have already sent ten students of Horticulture Crop Production Study Program for joining student exchange program during one semester”, he said.
Ten selected-students of Horticulture Crop Production Study Program are Muhammad Ni’amulloh, Samsul Muarif, Anggun Fitriyah, Anglingsari Yunar Widhi, Henni Churniawati, Intan Wahyu Wibowo, M. Shodiq, Nur Rahayu, Okta Sintiya dan Randita Melinda Kurniawandari. They attended lecturing process for 6 months with 9 subjects. They are Chinese Language, Horticultural Products Storage Processing, Agricultural Machinery, Gardening Seed Production Technology, Entrepreneurship Education, Plants Landscape and Design, Modern Agricultural Technology, Cultivation of Medicinal Plants and Organic Agricultural.
“You have a valuable opportunity to enhance international experience, completet the competencies and knowledge gained on the State Polytechnic of Jember", Abi Bakri said. Hopefully, after continuing the lectures, they can share knowledge and positive experience to make other students are more spirit to complete the lecture on time.
According to Niamulloh as coordinator, there is little difference in the process of lecturing. “ in Jiangsu, time to practicum class less than in State Polytechnic of Jember, but the implementation is more focused” he said.
Process of the student exchange that began in September last year, coincided with transition of autumn to winter which influenced practicum classes. As the result, practicum classes were mostly done in green house and sometime we visited some area outside of campus for practicum classes.
Further, he explained that the students of State Polytechnic of Jember showed the culture of Indonesia such as Gambyong dance and some songs of Indonesia. “We have performed traditional dences on several occasions; the welcoming new students ceremony, international student events and the Tai Zhou Award”, Niam said.
Implementation of the international cooperation with various higher education institutions in foreign countries becomes an important program of State Polytechnic of Jember for becoming world class university at 2020 as initiated by the Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education. It leads to achieve the vision of State Polytechnic of Jember to become Asia-leading Polytechnic in 2025.
The student exchange program with Jiangsu China will continue for next batch. 13 students of Jiangsu China will come to State Polytechnic of Jember in the end of February 2017. Among 13 students, 3 students study in Food Science Study Program and 10 students study in Animal Science Study Program in Jiangsu-china.
